The project has its origin in the Italian fashion world, which traditionally has been a strong advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness. During the initial outbreak of AIDS in the eighties and nineties, the fashion world was hit very hard and reacted with a strong endorsement of the battle against HIV / AIDS.
Today this endorsement reaches out to a new and unfortunately very young generation of HIV and AIDS victims in developing countries.
One million people still die each year of AIDS related complications and HIV can be successfully treated but is still incurable.
Together we can defeat AIDS and you can help by creating awareness for our project.
Our goal is to create a substantial involvement of adolescents worldwide and for this reason we created our social media campaign #careandtakecare where everybody can posts his own pictures using this hashtag. Our incentive will be that a selection of the most inspiring #careandtakecare image makers will be invited to a red carpet Gala event organised around the official exposition of the photos of Aldo Fallai.
Women account for more than half the number of people living with HIV worldwide.
Young women are twice as likely to acquire HIV as young men of the same age.
There are 7500 young women across the world acquiring HIV every week.
